Strengths
+ Great secure denial in lane with Astonish
+ Supreme map coverage with Hyperspace Hole teleporting, can allow team to contest just about every objective with ease
+ Can save allies from impending doom with portal back to base and heal back up with no downtime/travel time
+ Can allow for unprecedented macro plays due to ult letting team side-push lanes and wait for Hoopa to port them all in for free
Weaknesses
– Misplaced portals can severely sabotage allies playmaking, relies on them being conscious of where they are as well
– No on-demand healing means plays need to be planned around portal cd
Build + Gameplay
This is what you do:
pick Astonish first or u are throwing
Early game:
– VERY IMPORTANT: stun enemies that have strong secure or as many enemies as possible with astonish just before the contested farm gets low enough to be secured, this literally wins games
– harass stackers by auto attacking them to death
– pull neutral farm
– spam Magician at 9:30 and beyond (IF YOU USE MAGICIAN BEFORE 9:30 YOU ARE TROLLING) to feed your allies delicious and juicy fruits
– spam autos attacks
– secure farm with Hyperspace Hole, be mindful of important times like before 7:00 when Regi spawns, you want to save your portal to rotate allies down
– heal allies with Hyperspace Holes
– save trick for allies who are in trouble for instant shield and speed boost
– use portals for early rotations to help other lanes
Mid game and Late game:
– heal allies with Hyperspace Holes
– rotate allies for objectives and goal defense with portals
– secure farm with Hyperspace Hole
– use Shadow Ball+Hyperspace Hole or Phantom Form to stun disgusting rat-like enemies with strong secure to prevent them from stealing objectives
– use shadow ball to check bushes like a good little support
– ult your allies into Ray pit (like a good hoopa) when enemies threaten taking Ray or push your team, or you want to get an early start on Rayquaza
– knock enemies out of portals (phantom force only)
Other Tips
The silly hoopa portal juke (THIS WILL SAVE YOUR LIFE):
In the case of running away from barbaric enemies and needing a portal to escape, you can keep running past your portal if needed to (it is not recommended to stand still on your portal to wait for it, thats literally how you get murdered), and still run/eject/x speed or phantom force back to the portal before time is up.
When getting Hyperspace Hole+ this gets even stronger because you can use the speed boost to run back to the portal.
Do NOT be afraid to put your own variation on this tactic and encourage your ALLIES to do this as well (bone rush teleports, zera volt switch).
Hoopa’s survival kit: Mess with other Hoopas and make them quit the game (Phantom Force and Astonish)
Hoopa astonish allows you to STUN enemies and Phantom Force allows you to KNOCK and STUN enemies………. which is incredibly useful for preventing enemies from teleporting away in enemy Hoopa portals!!!!!!!!!!!! Use Phantom Force to knock enemies out of portals when they are trying to teleport back to base and absolutely wiggle on them as they look stupid with low hp. when allies are trying to teleport through a goal zone, you can stop them while causing enemies to suffer through the internal cooldown… this is INCREDIBLY good when you stop a jungler from rotating down to 1st Regi……. HOOPA CARRY
